Bacteriophages among EFSA’s efforts to fight antibiotic resistance

Improving animal health with phages is part of European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) strategies towards addressing AMR.

AMR is a global challenge, and the use of antimicrobials in animals is a part of the issue.

European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) presents the measures within Reduce + Replace + Rethink integrated strategies on improving animal health and reducing the need for antimicrobials. Bacteriophage based solutions are presented as a part of Replace actions.

Bacteriophages modulate the microbiome to boost immunity and therefore prevent diseases caused by pathogenic bacteria, They are completely sage and have no side-effects to the host organism.
